Chopping Carrots

Carlo Ritchie (Aus)

Scene work begins with the physical space. The more clearly defined the space, the broader defined the characters, the bigger the emotions, the more intense the relationships. Yet, why when we chop carrots do we always cut ourselves, or need to go on a quest to find more carrots, or stop after one? In this 3 hour workshop, improvisers hone the use of simple, repetitive tasks to build their scenes, pulling actors away from words and redirecting them towards action. Get ready for a whole bunch of mimed carrots!
